Graphic Designer

Contrast & Co. is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and highly creative individual to support our growing design team. The ideal candidate will have polished design experience, preferably gained in a creative or agency environment, paired with the vision, drive, and determination to contribute to building something truly transformative.

The Opportunity

Our Graphic Designers are responsible for executing diverse design and production needs for our clients. Whether working with brands we’ve built or expanding on existing ones, you’ll employ design best practices to realize deliverables that align with conceptual, aesthetic, and brand requirements— under the guidance of an Art Director.

What We’re Looking For

A Passion for Design:

You are hungry to grow as a designer and refuse to settle for mediocrity. For you, design isn’t just a job—it’s a calling. You think in pixels, dream in colors, and always strive for creative excellence.

Creative Versatility

The role requires someone who is comfortable wearing many hats. Our small, dynamic team means you’ll be designing a case study one day, creating layouts for a whitepaper the next, or conceptualizing a brand new UI design system by week’s end.

Exceptional Design Skills

You must have a deep understanding of graphic and production design principles, paired with the instincts to break the rules when needed. Your work must be thoughtful, evocative, and meticulously crafted. You should have mastery over typography, color, contrast, and proportion, with the ability to transform complex ideas into stunning visuals.

Organized and Fast

Speed and organization are critical. You should be able to analyze creative challenges, conceptualize ideas immediately, and utilize design tools efficiently. Files and deliverables must be clean, structured, and ready to hand off. Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud, alongside tools like PowerPoint and Canva, is vital. Bonus skills in platforms like Figma or Miro are a plus.

Positive Team Player

We need someone who thrives in high-pressure environments, collaborates effectively, and balances confidence with humility. You should be open to feedback, receptive to new perspectives, and eager to share your knowledge to elevate the entire team.

Self-Motivation

We are looking for a leader. You should take initiative, proactively solve problems, and find better ways to serve our clients and grow our capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support design projects across both print and digital mediums, including brochures, whitepapers, social graphics, signage, and more.
  • Execute production work with quick turnarounds for retainer clients.
  • Develop creative layouts and brand publications, from case studies to interactive wireframes and UI/UX designs.
  • Create and manage templates for platforms like PowerPoint and Canva.
  • Build out digital brand guidelines, motion graphics, and identity packages.
  • Collaborate with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Project Managers, and other Designers to produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Present and defend creative concepts internally and externally when needed.
  • Execute edits and client changes promptly and efficiently.

Growth Opportunities

This is a critical role within our growing agency, with numerous opportunities to expand your skill set and influence. You’ll receive mentorship from our team as you develop and deliver increasingly sophisticated brand solutions. Long-term, we aim to align your role with your strengths and passions, offering opportunities to lead projects, refine your craft, and grow your title, compensation, and responsibilities in the process.

Benefits and Perks

We’re committed to not only your professional growth but also your overall well-being. Our focus is on creating a space where our team members feel valued and supported for the long term. Here’s what we offer:

  • Competitive salaries reflective of your talent and contributions.
  • Paid Holidays, including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (two days), Christmas (two to three days), and your birthday.
  • Vacation Policy, starting with two weeks of paid vacation annually, increasing to three weeks after two years with the company.
  • Sick and Personal Days, totaling five annually, to use as needed.
  • Insurance with a basic single plan fully paid for by Contrast & Co.
  • 401K Benefits, with a Simple IRA that includes a matching contribution equal to your salary reduction contributions, up to a 3% limit of your annual compensation.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or similar experience.
  • Comprehensive portfolio showcasing a variety of design projects.
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, Canva, and similar tools.
  • Comfort in both print and digital design spaces.
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, and reliable with exceptional time management.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Annapolis, MD, occasionally (preferred but not required).
